From Wendy Auxillou...

The Auxillou Suites canoe team came in first in the female division
today in the Ruta Maya Canoe Race. We went all out as a cheering
committee for the final leg. We chartered a boat, put up a gigantic
sign, and greeted the paddlers and the canoe at Haulover Bridge. Once
our team had passed us, we moseyed around down to the Belcan Bridge for
the final leg.

Glad to say, Auxillou Suites were 1st in the female division, even
beating out 3 BATSUB (British Army) men's teams.

Go Auxillou Suites!

Here are a few pics of our greeting boat taken at Haulover Creek this morning. The last picture has a picture of our female canoe going around the curve at Haulover.

Gogo, Allie is the captain of the paddling team. We are very proud of her. She performed excellently and made Caye Caulker and the Auxillou family VERY proud! We cannot thank her enough!

No problem, CONGRATS!

The paddlers are Allie Ifield of Caye Caulker and Francesca and Anna Cruz of Esperanza Village. We are still trying to download some pics of the paddlers from the digital camera but we are not exactly downloading experts and so it takes a little while. The pics we have already posted were sent to us kindly by Paul Duke of Duke Marine. I suspect he is much more computer literate than we are :-)

As soon as we have the pics (hopefully by tomorrow), we will post them to this very same thread.

Hi It's me Allie, I wanted to personally thank our excellent sponsor Wendy and her fantastic family and friends, Ellen and Sophia and others, for their incredible support during the final leg of this race!
We heard them a mile away!!!
We had a great race, smashing the womens record by over 1 1/2 hours for a total of 22:19:00, All our hard work and training paid off big time. We often put over a hundred miles /week on the river andd I paddled round de caye with my dog in the canoe for strength training. Paddling against the winds on Caye Caulker proved to be a good way to gain the advantage as we faced a head wind daily. I'm not sure if I'll do this one again, except to prove this win wasn't a fluke,LOL.
There are other races this year including our Round De Caye Lobsterfest race where everyone is a winner! Tune in soon for information regarding that one. Thanks again everyone special thanks to God for his strength and guidance, my husband Lova Lova and Cozy Lee my fat dog.
