Hey! Word has it that the Ministry of works and the contractor hired to do the job just met with Placencia peninsula residents and announced that the paving will actually start in Dec. !! WOW!! All 22 miles will be paved! I wonder how long it will take....
Several years ago it was announced that the road from Orange Walk to San Felipe was to be paved thanks to a $100 Million grant from Taiwan (I think it was them.) I've been told that the road is still unpaved???
The only proof that GOB is going to do something is that they've already done it. Huge leap of faith to forecast the beginning and/or the end of a project.
I'm just repeating what was told to me by some residents who attended a meeting with the Ministry of Works and the contractor who apparently is going to do the job. I guess time will tell.....
Was Cisco the contractor, did you hear? If they get the job you will have a road that lasts. Two years ago they pave the road from Boom past Bermudian Landing. Cisco got half and someone else got the other half. The other contractors road is breaking up already, we were there earlier this week.
Apparently it isn't open yet. I don't know who the knew owners are. If they are smart, they will open in time for season. The road is still bad. I thin the deal with the paving is all "He said, she said". No one will knwo for sure until the paving atcually commences. I have hope though! No more red trees!
