#218387 - 10/26/04 10:13 PM weather and sand fleas?
Hi there! I am planning to go to hang out on a tropical island in December, and Caye Caulker looks perfect. I have a few questions, though, that I hope one of you Caye Caulker experts can answer for me.

First, I was wondering whether it's rainy in December in Caye Caulker. I've read that there is a secondary rainy season that time of year, but I am not sure how rainy that would be.

Secondly, I read that there are sand fleas on many of the beaches in Belize. Does Caye Caulker have many sand flea? I've never experienced sand fleas, but they sounds kind of icky to me.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Come on down! Rain is not a big problem, it's a tropical island anyway,ENJOY! Those little "buggers", don't worry about them on Caye Caulker. However, a good Deet product should be in every tropical travel kit. Come Enjoy, Go Slow.

As long as the tradewinds are blowing, sandfleas are not a problem. The easiest and most effective way to combat them is to slather on baby oil, keep it shiney! The sandfleas land on the oil slick, try to take a bite and drown. I guess they ahve really small mouths :-)

Thanks for the advice! I think I'll be making the trip to Caye Caulker this December.
