We were thinking about bringing down a couple of sets of those hand held walkie talkies to give out to our group, so we could talk to each other around the island. These are not any type of high tech units, but do you think they would work on CC? I was hoping someone on CC could answer this question or if there's anyone on this board who has tried these things before (on CC or any other islands). I do not know how the radio frequencies would be different on CC than anywhere else, but electronics are not my strong suit. We are leaving Wed. morning, so any response by that time would be greatly appreciated.

lobster king - they would definitely work but i think most islanders & visitors would prefer the grackle of the island birds to the crackle of the walkie talkies. we use them a lot on vacation & they annoy my self! one of my favorite things about caye caulker is the absence of city sounds. think about it & enjoy -

Hi Lobster King,

Friends have used them in the past and seem to work fairly well (5 mile range). Frequency is the same. Have a safe trip.

Thanks for the feed back and believe me, we would not do anything to ruin the atmosphere or anyone's good time. If we use them at all, it will be sparingly and so as not to offend anyone. Pura Vida and Go Slow...
