Well everyone I have spent a long time on CC;9 months over the last year and I found the place to be full of lovely people.
Of course there were a fair amount of idiots as one would expect to find anywhere...

That is good news. Beats wounding animals with a pellet rifle.
It doesn't take a genus to think of animal controls- the humane way. Maybe a law should be passed that disallows animals to run at large, maybe they should be kenneled till they are spayed, maybe a law passed disallowing animals to be brought to the island.
There are lawmakers on this island, isn't there?Put them to work and disband the vigilanty.

Doogan, you are right that animal control ,the humane way is a good solution, but banning animals from the island is an unfair solution to those who care for their pets. Licensing, leash laws and rounding up the strays is the way it's done but the island has no animal officer, it barely has police presence(and they have had their problems too). So, extremists take things into their own hands, believing they are the self appointed, albeit misguided,, guardians of the island.He( G) will find that with the continued type of disposal practices his business will suffer. He is angering people who have the will and the courage to stand up to him. The old ways still exist along with the old mindset that animals are as disposable as getting rid of roaches.
Spaying one kitten or puppy once a month or so will take to the next century. The counsel can figure it out and implement a program if it wants to. You build a castle one stone at a time, tihs is no different. But the four legged strays aren't the only problem. The homeless, crack heads and theives are a serious problem. A person wacked out on drugs in the middle of Front St. becoming violent and punching signs over is a bigger nuisance than than a stray begging for food. Stealing from a woman who just lost her husband is dispicable. You know darn well it was one of their own that did this and they knew this woman's circumstances and it didn't matter. So , what's my point, don't sweat the small stuff, and the animals are small stuff. Take care of the humans first. They will destroy the island reputation faster. If the vigilantes want a cause, round up the undesirable two legged animals first.

Yes! I agree nothing is easy, but doing nothing at all does not solve any problem even in paradise. Sounds like the island has a council, poor as it is. There are solutions to every problem, I agree that the good people who look after their animals should not be punished.
Island has a big tourism and they have money. A landing fee of 50 cents to a dollar would be a start. Some one suggested a donation system at all the bars and resturants.)The problem may be thievery here(to purchase pellets for a rifle).

Anyway, there are solutions to problems putting your brains into a pellet rifle isn't one of them. (unless your driving away gutter rats).

For Goodness sake! this is the 21st century, deal with the issues on a intelligent humane level.

Isn't it amazing, the Reporter is also the village idiot. You don't often find that combination.

Suggestions are food for thought,and should be taken as such. Many suggestions some time lead to a solution.

But it only works for people who don't like to kill and have half a brain to think through a problem to a sensible solution. No sense Reporter applying, brains are aquired at birth, not handed out.
