Hi. I hope everyone on CC is doin fine. I need some help and guidance! I am planning to come back to divorce my Belizean husband. I live in California and I doubt I can do this effectively via mail. I have no idea where to start when I come back, what the process entails, and which place I have to file in Belize City (Magistrate or court)?

It'd be cool if I can wrap it up within a week's time, but that's probably ambitious.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

We've been married a year come November and love one another. No game runnin here where like some white woman fi get played. Sistahs don't play dat rass action no way.

I simply want a change in my life, to be with my man, and the opprotunity to make a differnece in others' - paticularly for my *own people and the community.

I appreciate the feedback about citizenship very much. I found BelizeLaw.org and it stated that citizenship is granted if married to a national. But it didn't mention paperwork, which in Belize is considerable to get anything done anyway. Even to buy a cup of coffee.

So I dig on what you say! Much respek!

You probably should contact an attorney in Belize (if you were married here) or check into your local state laws regarding foreign marriages.
