I have been on Utila a couple of times along with other friends from Caye Caulker. I find the remarks above correct. The things that struck all of us is that the ambiance on Utila is more like Caye Caulker than anywhere we have ever been. The folks there have time to speak to you in much the way it is here at home.
Utila has been in a long running feud with the Government. This has led to years at a time of no power, a nearly dysfunctional airport and poor road access away from the village. This ain't all bad since their culture has become strong but isolated and withstood the complete latinization the rest of Honduras has seen.
