Looking for info on getting to the Blue Hole on a day trip from CC. Have spent time in the Yucatan, and done some of these types of trips,however the boats have been somewhat small and after a day of pounding surf, have had some problems with my back. WHat does this type of trip from CC look like, type of boats and overall safety??

Go with Paradise Down. While several dive operators offer BH trips, PD has the best, fastest, biggest and most comfortable boat.
Great crew too.

I agree with Cookie...Paradise Down is the way to go for the Blue Hole. IMHO the Blue Hole is overrated though...something I guess you should do once to say you did it.

The wall diving is especially awesome. I think the best one (so far) was at Half Moon Caye. I think that one may have been included in the trip to the Blue Hole. The North End of Turneffe is also nice. For more info on Paradise Down go here: http://www.paradisedown.com/

Hi, thanks to all who replied but we are actually looking for the best snorkling, not diving. I'm thinking the Blue Hole may not be the best but maybe a once in a lifetime thing. Where is the best snorkling? In your humble opinion, of course? Thanks.

I really enjoyed "Carlos Tours" - email carlosaya@gmail.com - located on Front St. You might also check with Tropical Paradise- they are "Star Tours"..."Tsunami Tours" has some good packages as well...HAVE FUN!!! I miss Caye Caulker so much!!!
By the way, I dive and snorkle and have been to CC 3 times in the last year...Paradise Down is the way to go for SCUBA - safe boat - safety conscious owner and crew - fun and GREAT LUNCHES - I haven't gotten to it yet but I have "heard" that there is some great snorkling to be had at spots around the BH...I think I heard that from Tsunami.

I'm a diver but have totally enjoyed snorkling with Juni (accross from b-ball court) and Carlos. Star Tours also has good snorkle trips and I "heard" that there is excellent snorkling around the edge of the Blue Hole - but I haven't done that...I think I might have gotten that from "Tsunami Tours"..not sure...enjoy!

We are snorklers that like to go out with the dive boats to certain spots. Oue favorite spot is Turneff. Paradise down will take you out. We did not like the Blue hole much for snorling, However you can do a fantastic trip with any of the snorkle shops to Hol Chan also stopping at Shark Ray Alley and Coral Gardens with a lunch stop over at San Pedro. Its less expensive and awsome.

Do any of the places just take you out to the Blue Hole if you don't want to snorkle or dive?

You would be able to go and not snorkel or dive, but it would cost you the same as if you were a snorkeler.
