#22054 - 04/19/00 11:17 PM San Pedro or Belize City for 2 days?
Anonymous
We are coming to San Pedro in June and will be sailing for 7 days then back to the Islands. Which would be the best to see, San Pedro or Belize City? The beach is great, but is there anything in Belize City to see that we shouldn't miss? What would be the best things to do for 2 1/2 days? Should we spend 2 day on San Pedro and 1/2 day in Belize City? Is the Myan Princess a good place to stay?

Thanks for all the good responce. We will stay on San Pedro and look into the other hotels! Thanks to everyone!!!
Thanks!

Brandy,

Of the two, San Pedro. Belize City has a kind of Graham Greeneish appeal for some, but other than several good restaurants, a large casino, and a few old colonial buildings, it doesn't have much for the typical visitor. Some areas of the city have a high crime rate, and even in the safe areas it is not a good idea to wander around at night.

If you want to visit the port city or other parts of the mainland, you can do so on a day trip by ferry or air.

Mayan Princess is a convenient, pleasant small condotel. I stayed there a few weeks ago. It's not one of the fanciest condos on the island (for something more upscale, consider Banana Beach or Villas at Banyan Bay), and it doesn't have a pool, but the rates are usually very attractive, and I like being on the water right in the middle of things in town.

I agree, San Pedro is the way to go. You can take day trips in to see the ruins if you're tired of the beach, or go snorkeling, or do nothing and go out dancing at night. Have fun!

San Pedro! San Pedro! San Pedro!

There are plenty of dining places to explore, people to meet, and conversation to enjoy. Dance, listen to funky music, and be really laid back.

All the guidebooks say there's nothing worth bothering with in Belize City andthe crime rate is very high.
