$347 L.A. to Belize City: Good ol’ TACA airlines, who once sent me to Belize via an unscheduled and frighteningly informal detour through El Salvador, has a South American sale getting pimped by CheapTickets. The $347 LA to Belize City fare is pretty absurdly low for a round trip, and other options are also decently inexpensive ($507 Boston to Bogota, $347 New York to Lima, $357 San Francisco to San Salvador, etc.). Purchase by March 24 and travel April 24 through June 15. Expect additional taxes and fees to start around $120.

We have been flying TACA several times a year for about 5 years now. They always detour to San Salvador, the stop is short and the airport is safe Ultra Modern with brand name shops and retaurants,better than most US airports. TACA is not perfect they lost my luggage for 6 days once. and I was delayed overnight in San Salvador once, They gave me free phone calls so as I lounged in the spa bath in my room using the tub phone to call my husband to tell him I was delayed, after having a beautiful champange brunch while listening to a 8 peice orchestra at the Intercontinental Hotel(five star!!!) Prior to having a wonderful Steak Dinner with wine. I told my husband I was fine and all this was free courtesy of TACA. Airlines are all becoming more stressful to deal with, they are all loosing money. This is not a perfect world.
