Do the airlines and dive shops take Mastercard/Visa?
I don't want to bring much cash, so will most places take American Express traveler's checks?
ARGH! I leave Wednesday morning, and I'm already wondering what it is that I'll forget to pack.

Visa and MasterCard are accepted by most hotels, resorts and restaurants. Some businesses may levy a 3% to 5% surcharge to use a credit card, but this practice is dying out. Tropic Air and Maya Air accept Amex, Visa and MC - no surcharge.

You should have very little problem using credit cards in most of the tourist shops anywhere in Ambergris Caye.

If you are going to use a credit card with a tour operator or dive shop direct, it would be prudent to find out in advance if the operator accepts it.

We have never had trouble with traveller's checks as long as we had our passports. Belize it!
