A whopping 324 students from Caye Caulker RC Primary School and Pre-School participated in a gala Independence Parade on Friday, September 15th. The students in the festive event marched and danced and jumped about accompanied by three speaker system boom boxes up and down the two main streets of Caye Caulker.
At 9:30 AM, immediately before the patriotic parade a brief ceremony was held on the grounds of the RC Primary School located on Avenue Pueblo Nuevo, presided over by Principal Eneldo Rosado. She crowned the school's King and Queen: Infant 1 student Kimberly Reyes was crowned Queen and another Infant 1 student Johariro Verdes was crowned King.
The parade started at 10:30 AM, marched up Avenue Langosta, (Back Street) to the Football Field then made a right turn over to Avenue Hicaco, (Main Street) heading back to the school. It concluded at 12:30 PM. Principal Rosado said that last year the parade was canceled due to some concerns over the age of the marchers. At the request of both parents and students the parade was reinstated this year. A patriotic and celebratory time was had by all.
