This is my first post... have been learning alot the last few months! Thank you for the info and the friends I think I already have! My husband & I are leaving Friday... will be going to Palencia for a few days.. on to Caye Caulker... then arriving in San Pedro the 21st. We will find a one nighter and then have a house rented for the week Fri-Fri. My main question is: we need to rent a golf cart for the week in San Pedro. Was it Pedro that I read sometime back that has great rates? I know I've waited til the last minute and probably will be SOL during this busy week! I tried a search and couldn't wade thru the results!
Our 2 adult children, 1 fiance, and 3 other friends will be flying in on Friday. We're arriving Thursday to stock the house and be ready to meet and greet!
I definitely plan to be at Pedro's Friday nite... and from his add in the San Pedro Daily... I plan to spend alot of time there!
During my time in SP I also want to visit the school.... I want to contribute in any way I can! But, will it be open during the Holiday? If not, at some point I'd love to meet with anyone who can give me ideas of what I can donate or help with in art supplies, etc. (I'm a potter/jeweler with lots of extra "stuff"!)
Thanks again and can't wait to visit paradise in hopes of becoming a regular!

Lana - You will have the best time! There are more golf carts on the island than you can imagine. Take a taxi to your room, check out the phone book and make a few calls to price compare. Your overall best rate will probably be on a full week rental price. If your house is North, you will certainly need it to get anywhere! Cholo's is generally very good, competitive prices and I believe they will deliver.

Have a great time!

lana, how about buying a couple of bikes, you'll find they are also everywhere on the island and the cost is reasonable, and donating them to the school for a fundraiser when you leave.

That's a great idea! See... I would have not thought of that! I know that we'd be at least renting a few bikes for the week also.... now we would all get benefit of the $$!!!
Thanks!

That is a good idea - about how much do bikes run on the island?

we were there two seasons ago and we purchased two beach cruisers from castillo's hardware for $100us each and sold them to a couple of san pedranos for half price when we left. this jan we will purchase a couple more but this time donate them to holy cross school when we leave. they can do whatever they want to with the bikes. the fund raiser idea was one possibility. talk to francis wilson at holy cross school (franciswilsonbelize@aol.com i believe) about this.
