jdog...honestly, they'll be VERY lucky to get $10 bze. $15 is the going rate, and thats for a local like me who uses the same cabs all the time. i have ONE day driver who charges me $10, and thats only during the day. At night, i cannot get one for under $15.

Cab number 16 out of the central park taxi group is a price gouger. he will charge you up to $40 for the ride, and when you protest, he will show you a laminated paper supporting his ridiculous price. even other cabbies warn against him

the best tip...ALWAYS ask before you get in the cab. anywhere from $10 to $15 is "fare" smile

Yeah I agree with Lara always ask first how much.

we usually pay 10 to go south but not to far past banyan bay for reference point.

Good point Lara ,cabs are not to bad in price compared to states, but [REMEMBER THE PRICES ARE BELIZE MONEY SO PAY HALF IF YOU ARE PAYING WITH U.S..].and always ask price first..

I have NEVER paid more than $10 bze ($5 US) for anywhere on the island. I stay at Bananna Beach and that's been the fare for anywhere I've gone and I've gone with up to 4 additional people w/o any change in the charged price.

Another factor is the road conditions.

If the roads are really bad they may charge a bit more.

Took is 3o min to go 3 miles south the other day for cookie bake.

correct, road factors add in extra time and fare for everyone have been more than $10 BZ especially past Banana Beach area. Took nearly 30 minutes to get home from Caribe Island/Sunset Beach after cookie baking and our local fair was $20 and the cab drivers were wanting to charge $25.
