A friend is flying into International on Thursday and then connecting to Dangriga to get her home. She just received an email from the person who is to pick her up in Dangriga telling her the airport in Griga is closed and they are flying planes to a spot on the Coastal Highway? Does anyone here know anything about this situation? True ? False? Why Dangriga airport may be closed?? etc.

YEs, both local airlines are landing about 8 miles out of Dangriga(Melinda) at the moment.

This is becuase of the refurbishment of the landing strip at the moment.

If you're coming to Dangriga and have to land at this temporary, no problem getting to Dangriga as there are taxis there.
