Thank you to everyone who responded to my silly weather questions. I am a detail person can't help it! I have another question about January. We will be there over New Year's. Is San Pedro more crowed at this time because of the holiday? I was there in March and you never needed to worry about reservations for anything. You just did what you wanted when you wanted. Do you think I will need reservations in January for off island tours, diving, eating, etc.?

Yes San Pedro is way more crowded over New Year's. Get Reservations for your room for sure. Don't know about other reservations but I do know many places are closed on Holidays. Also much more activities in Town Park, like festival and celebration parties, bands, dancing etc.

I would start looking right now for availability during the Christmas/New Year's time frame. Many places are pretty sold out and I wouldn't wait much beyond August. Also remember that the rates are much higher than normal for that time frame.

I'll be there over New Years too. It is wonderful because everyone is out, walking around town and celebrating together. Defintely get a room now. When I worked on Ambergris most places were booked solid that time of year. It is more crowded, but it's kind of nice. The good part is that there are so many people, most trips go, versus in the slow season, sometimes trips are cancelled because of not reaching minimum numbers.
