New Year's Day is a tough one on Caye Caulker, since most places to eat close that day (and on Christmas too), the ones that are open usually are slam jammed for business. I don't understand why these businesses close, because people have to eat somewhere, and the island is complete booked up. When you are overwhelmed with customers, because the island is so full of people, fast/nice service doesn't always happen. PLUS most of the workers are hung over or have called in sick. We (Coco Loco Cafe inside of Caribbean Colors Art Gallery) actually put up a sign at the counter for that day that read "Rule #1 - You MUST not make your server cry" We also put another sign behind the espresso machine that said "TODAY, please do not STARBUCK me to death" and were trying to deal with the situation humorously with only 2 of us working the whole day.
