My husband has a terminal illness and we want to move to Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye for the next few months. Any suggestions on long-term (as inexpensive as possible)rentals? I read a post about someone looking for low-cost living in Belize. Basically, he was told that there was some out there, but nothing specific. I understand that there are no "cheap" places, but if you could turn me on to anything close to reasonable, it would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I would contact Maria Vega at Vega Inn and ask her about the house (with two, two bedroom apartments full kitchen, etc) beside Habeneros.... we have rented from them the past two times we have been at Caye Caulker and she is just amazing!! She even had someone come in and clean every day and change sheets even do all the dishes.... this would be of great benefit so you and your husband can spend more time together and not worry about the little things like housekeeping. You can tell her that Jill and Sean sent you!!!

My house is a fancy modern two bedroom for US475/mo. Barbel's is 300/mo. Both are in the green area between the school and airstrip that many people think is the best to live. I know of a very simple beach house -same price range. keycocker@btl.net
