I have heard that there are unseen sandworms that can burrow into your feet on the beaches there and can cause some pretty extensive damage. My aunt had a friend who had one burrow into her foot and she didn't even notice until she started having foot problems about 3 weeks later. Any news on this?

Sounds like hook worm which is a parasite that lives in sand or dirt in many places, not just in Belize. Did they give you any kind of name to go by?

"sandworms that can burrow into your feet on the beaches there". I've walked many a mile barefoot here as have most of my friends, can't say that I or any of them have run into problems.

There is a guy who walks around town barefoot all the time (kind of a bum, lives here and there and never has any money). He had a hookworm growing in his foot last week. Nasty thing, I must say.

Larvae migrans -- 'dog hookworm'. They come from dogs, live in the sand, enter humans or animals via the skin, cause an itchy rash that is characterized by a track as the worm travels under the skin, are microscopic, and are easily treated.

And with all the maga dogs running around, what are the chances of that happening!
