Maybe you could rent a car and drive to Chetumal, use a transfer service or taxi to cross the border and then fly from Corozal to San Pedro.

There is a transfer service that will pick you up in Cancun but I don't remember what the name is. I'm sure someone will be along to remind me

Mexico City - Chetumal. Aviacsa or Mexicana.

You can fly between Cancun and Flores in Guatemala (near Tikal). Useful for planning a circular tour, though you won't find any bargain fares.

The bus service between Cancun/Playa and the Belize border is good and very cheap ($18). Takes about 5 hours.
