Hey guys smile

I was wondering if anyone here has been to Puerto Rico?

I'm interested in going there with my sister, and I don't even know where to start on information, places to go, what there is to do thre, etc. Or if its even worthwhile?

Any advice/info you can offer would be much appreciated wink

Thx!

We've been there a few times. A week in Rincon a few years back, and a week on Culebra, with a few days in Old San Juan. We consider the high point of the time to be Old San Juan. The fort is something to see, and the old part of the city is a great place to shop, great restaurants, and just a fun atmosphere. Rincon and the towns on the west coast had some nice beaches and again great food. Come to think of it, the only place we didn't have great PR food was on Culebra. Culebra on the other hand was a great place to just lay back and enjoy some really primo beaches and water.

El Morro is the fort. The area around it is very walkable and they have a free bus service that you can take all around the seaport area. It's lovely. The cemetary down the hill from the fort is also very interesting. There's a tunnel through which you go to get to the gate. People from Spain still visit some of the graves that are centuries old. Don't go through the adjacent barrio, though.

There is a broad walkway all along the southern side, along the water that will take you into the grounds. Very pretty, plants, statues, fountains and a great view of the water. This is a place of history come alive.

Aren't there 2 forts? It's been a bunch of years, but I think I remember 2--el Morro is the major one, with the clear field all around. Old town San Juan is great!

There is a castle compound down the way from El Morro. St. Something-or-Other, can't remember which.

I stayed at Hotel Milano last year in Old SJ. Great place. Funky, local, on a great shopping & restaurant street. Easy walking distance to the sights.
I have heard the Ponce area of PR is great too (southern shore) but I have not been there yet.
