Hoping to get away in the next couple of weeks for 5-6 days ... I want to go to Belize/AC, but need to plan a trip that would be comfortable (a/c and adventures not too physically demanding, but still fun for a senior). Will AC or Caye Caulker fit the bill? Any recommendations?

* just how bad are the bugs & rain this time of year? Any worse than other times?

* Health Advice?

* Excursions?

* pros/cons of splitting the visit with a few days on AC and a couple on Caye Caulker? Is this easily done, or just a waste of R&R time in transit? What's the real difference between AC and Caye Caulker?

* Any feedback on Carribean Villas? or where else would you recommend with a/c and hopefully fewer bug bites?

Any responses will help us decide if this is the place to go. THANKS !
~ pat

Pat, I am 62 and just returned from AC, had the best time, snorkeling, walking to all the good restaurants, and shops. Since I have only been able to spend a fews days there, I cannot tear myself away from AC to go to other places. I do want to visit other cayes and the mainland, but that will be when I can stay for an extended time.
I love being right in San Pedro on AC, we stayed at the Sunbreeze, great and location is close to everything. BUGS & RAIN do not worry yourself about them. Take bug spray, but we never needed it. Rains are short showers. Go and enjoy.

Marty Online   happy
Caye Caulker a lil smaller, less people, less everything...

Carib Villas is fantastic. Wonderful grounds. They kept the original littoral forest and it shows....
Wil and Susan and Javier are great, you'll love it...

Don't forget a day trip to the Lamanai ruins with a stop at the Maruba Spa for lunch and a dip in the pool. You don't have to climb the temples, but the riverboat ride is truely unforgettable.
And if you're there long enough get Mood Mud Therapy <sigh>
Also, you're not allowed to leave AC without a snorkle trip at Shark Ray Alley. Not only is it an amazing experience, it's great to tell the kids about back home

AC would probably be your best choice. Less of everything on Caye Caulker. Maybe a day trip to Caulker would be a good idea. The Winnie Estelle is fun trip even if you don't snorkel.

Caribean Villas are wonderful and the Lala's are very nice people. We have stayed right next store at Coral Bay Villas for the last 2 years, 7 trips.

Bugs shouldn't be a problem. You can pretty much walk to everything from CaribV, or if so inclined you can rent a golf cart for the stay. Pricey, but sometimes worth the $$$. If you do, Moncho's would probably be the best (newer equiptment) The prices are all the same.

AC has great food. You will be only a short walk from The Patio, and Jade Garden. There is a small grocery 100 yards from CaribV for incidentals, anything else needs to come from the Island Grocery about a 1/4 mile further. Rocks little grocery has fewer and fewer items since the Island Groc. opened.

Have fun.
