We're flying into BZE on the 6th and renting a car, we want to return the car & fly to San Pedro on the 10th but haven't booked a flight yet as we don't really know how long the drive from Lamanai to BZE (international airport) will take us.

I have read that just showing up at the airline before the 2nd to last flight of the day and buying a ticket directly should work, but I don't want to allow anything to go wrong.

If anyone can estimate the amount of time that drive from Lamanai to BZE would take I could just book a ticket now & prevent anxiety!

Can you drive to Lamanai? I thought you had to take a boat for the last part of the journey?

You can drive, but it's not recommended except for in the middle of the dry season apparently.

About an hour and a half depending on road conditions. You can make the drive anytime of year but should have a 4x4 in the rainy season, actually anytime of year as the road can be pretty rough.

Simon, its an hr from Belize City to Orange Walk, then quite a long drive to the site, about 1.5 hrs? Another option is to leave your vehicle at the bridge in OW and take the boat. Get directions from the lodge, the road is not marked in certain areas.

I do have a bit of a lead foot.
