Good for you TG!
I think the fact that people DON'T stop and smell the roses at a commuter subway station is really nothing of note. It's because I DO value the important things in life that I spend as little time commuting as possible.
I live in Columbus, Ohio for heaven's sake. If Josh Bell played music at the local gas station while I was filling-up, I'd probably have missed it also. Sorry. I want to get through the non-value-add parts of my day as much as possible. That way, if I ran into Bell in a public park while casually walking with my family -- I WOULD stop and enjoy the finer things in life.
Am I making any sense?
