I had a message this am at work from Denny letting me know he was in St. Luke's hospital after another stroke. I have spoken to him and he is in good spirits and laughing as usual. He says the nurses are really nice & pretty too. LOL

All of his previous strokes have been on the right side of his brain but this one was on the left and he has some paralysis on his right side. This happened last Wednesday night and he was moved from ICU to a room this morning. He said his two front carotid arteries are completely closed but the back ones are clear. The doctors are talking about a by-pass at a later date.

He wanted me to let everyone know why he has been MIA.

That's sad to hear, Windjammer - good to hear his spirits are high tho. Please give him my best!!!

When you are back in touch with him be sure to tell him we are all thinking of him and praying for excellent results.

A lot of prayers coming his way. Believe it. He is a good troop.

UPDATE: Denny has been moved to a rehab floor and is still in good spirits. They tell him his speech is at 95%, the numbness & tingling in his tongue & fingers will improve. He's not really happy about trading his 4 prong cane for a walker but accepting. He will probably be in the hospital another 4-6 weeks. He's already asked about WIFI and getting his laptop brought to him but said no-one knows what he's talking about! That's our Denny, ready to type & talk one way or the other. It's mine. I am home!! They let me to go home instead of the rehab home. I will get a nurse 3 days a week for usually I don't for for ?? Aleady ready for sponge baths! lol

I am get one of those help alerts I can push for help.

I am telling the nureses pretty hellped me a speedy recrovery. I am not talking 100% and typing ok alraight, I think.

I want to thank you for calls, cards, and all the well wishes on the messages here.

I had to go to the VA hospital yesterday, not where I treated for my stroke. I practically had another stroke there, trying to straighten there mess they created! ugh...

Denny, it sounds like what's happening is that your "insurer" in both cases is the Government of the USA. In other words Medicare and the VA spring from the same source, that is, the US Government and their limit of payment together is 80% for those incidents. I'd say just let it shake out to see how much is paid and that may take a year, then see what settles to the bottom. At that point you may have to set up a payment plan, say $20/month for the balance. Try not to worry about it though for people of a certain stripe, that's easy to say and hard to do.

As true ckocian, but normal the VA pays 100%... I've saving the VA 80%. lol

I guess Medicare is primary, in this case, and VA is secondary so Medicare rules rule :-) A sticky wicket to be sure.
