Hi there -
I'll be traveling there with a friend - two single girls. Looking to relax and have some fun. Any advice on where to go for nightlife and best places to stay. We don't want to go to places with lots of children or honeymooners (urgh). smile We'd love to be central to do different activities and such.

Thanks!
T

Hi Tamara! Do you prefer bars or nightclubs? You will pretty much figure out what is available for nightlife within the first two days. What age range are you? Where are you staying?

Dear single girls

Just so happens I am an authority on where to go and what's happening. OK, that wasn't true. In town try Holiday Hotel and ask for one of the nice rooms facing the beach. If ya don't mind south a bit I'd say Zanadu. North, definitely Belizean Shores. Awesome Pool and nice units, good restaurant etc. ask for a loft unit it affords a bit more privacy having a bedroom and a nice loft bed and there's a third fold out couch if things get crazy in the living room. Most the action is in town depending on the night of the week. Where the good bands are is usually a determining factor. When are you coming in and for how long? I've been living here 3 years and officially don't date tourists but I might be swayed. wink Full moon consideration ya know.

Signed Gilligan

P.S. Stay away from Pedro's One Night Pizza Stand. ......... Sorry inside joke. Tell em I sent ya and order the rooffie special and ask for pinapple on your pizza. OK, that's silly. Pirate Pizza's next to Belizean Shores. My phone number's on the bathroom wall at Pedro's under Cuidado. Dutch is ok I presume?

Hi Tamara!! Do you girls require a pool to make your holiday? Do you want a kitchenette/condo or will a hotel room do just fine? Do you want separate rooms or will a double room do? What's your budget like? I've got some ideas for you, once I see your answers to my questions.

K-z-K, is right on the money. You won't have any trouble finding um, trouble, erm, I mean nightlife and you'll know where to go in very short order, even if we don't share that with you here, which we will! smile

HEy all!

Thanks for the warm welcome. We are coming end of May for several days. Any accomodations are fine - though we'd prefer hotel since although we are great friends we'd still like to mingle with others! wink

Other questions answered:
Beach access and pool would be great!
We'll do a double room; separate rooms not necessary.
budget is flexible, but not more than $200/night

We're in our early 30s - so we're not looking for a young spring break crowd. But fun places to have a good time. We need a break and looking forward to some sun and maybe a wee-bit trouble! wink

We'd also like to check out the zoo and other things on the mainland - so we'll stay one night in Belize City (is that ok?)

Belize City is fine but not really geared for tourists. If you do stay there, I recommend the Radisson, Great House or Biltmore. The Princess is fun to go to (casino, movies, bowling, good club), but don't stay there. Don't expect much nightlife unless you are there on a weekend. Friday nights rock! Or you can get out of the city and stay right in the jungle/rainforest for not a lot more hassle. Belize Jungle Dome, Jaguar Paw & Banana Bank are all close to the zoo, zip line, cave tubing. I just stayed at the Dome and it was fab - right on the river, unique rooms, pool, good tours, friendly interesting people who own & run it. No nightlife unless you stay right in San Ignacio - but you should do at least 2 nights if you want to really experience the area.

Hi,
As a single 30 something myself I can tell you, that you will have a lot of fun on the island. As for the night life it really depends on what day and what you would like to do. There is everything here from small quaint beach bars to dance till 4 am night clubs. There is a lot of musical talent on this island so there will be a variety of things to do. As for the Belize Zoo you have two options one is stay in Belize City and visit it or take a day trip with one of the local tour companies from San Pedro.
If you want specific detail you can alway PM me an I will let you know where my personal party favs are.

My recommendations in no particular order:

Close in:

Blue Tang, decent summer special, make sure you book Room 11, perfect for 3, kitchen/living area, has a dipping pool & Continental breakfast, good location on north edge of town

Sunbreeze, hotel rooms only, don't think they have a suite, great pool, great restaurant on site

The Palms, great location, very nice rooms with kitchen/living area, pool around back, right next door to Ramon's

Paradise Villas, I like the grounds and pool set up, but many of the suites only have a/c in the bedrooms, which could be a problem in May. However, if you can get a 2 bedroom with AC throughout, I think this would be a good one for you too.

A bit further south:

Mata Rocks, smaller place, but cool set up, as you can see from their website, while they don't have their own bar, they've got one neighboring them right out front. Great place to meet and greet.

Banana Beach, if you can get an ocean front room.

The Squirrel Bar in front of Mata Rocks, is part of the resort. They open for their continental breakfast and are open until about 8-9 at night.

Mayan Princess, the best for what you are looking for. Right next to Fido's, written up a few times in Cosmo (the chic bible).

AquaMarina is another option if you must have a pool.

Have a great time, I'm sure to see you round.
