Expansion of Helicopter Services in Belize

Belize City, Belize, May 7, 2007 - Astrum Helicopters announced today the delivery of its new Bell 206 Long Ranger L4 helicopter. The helicopter was delivered from Bell Helicopter and is undergoing an 8 week completion at Hillsboro Aviation located in Hillsboro, Oregon.

The new Bell 206 Long Ranger L4 will have a corporate 6 passenger configuration, sliding door, cargo hook, litter kit (2 stretchers), emergency floats, latest avionics package, and many other options that will allow the helicopter to accommodate a variety of missions.

Astrum Helicopters is expanding its fleet to accommodate the growing market in the tourism industry (both overnight and cruise tourists) requiring helicopter transfers and tours while visiting Belize. Currently, Astrum Helicopters offers direct helicopter transfers to Azul Belize, Cayo Espanto, Matachica Resort, Turneffe Island Lodge, Isla Marisol and services soon opening at Chaa Creek and Maruba Resort. In addition, Astrum Helicopters offers the following Helicopter Adventures: Belize City & Reef, The Blue Hole, The Mayan Ruins of Altun Ha and Lamanai, 1000 ft Falls and Victoria Peak, and Ambergris Caye & San Pedro.

The new helicopter will also serve a critical role on specialized charted flights for Aerial Photography & Film, External Load, Aerial Survey, Search & Rescue, and Medivac & Evacuation Services.

wish they posted prices for aerial tours. i've never been in a helicopter, and would have considered it...

he is a very nice fellow and can tell you prices.its AMAZING to fly around Belize in his chopper. you can see pretty much 310 degrees, glass all around even under your feet. I highly recommend flying around a bit in the Astrum helicopters...

Extremely expensive for transfers. Tours from SP, once the helicopter is already on the island, are more reasonable. 1/2 hr tour $250 pp minimum 3 people. Transfer from Turneffe Island to Chaa Creek was about $2500 US one way.
Sounds cool though!

you can also fly out of his office outside Belize City. see lotsa cool stuff flying out over the cayes and back. or over cayo and back. or....

well, $1000 for the 4 of us for 1/2 and hour is WAY outta our budget. sounds very cool, tho.

Nuts, if it was not so expensive I would have suggested that maybe "they" can put a heliport up in Northern Ambergris Caye instead of the airport "they" have been talking about for over 15 years !!! But it looks to be too expensive for the passengers.
