Anybody have any info on Ramon's? Been looking at Ambergris Caye for awhile. Or any other info on lodging close to town. Need something close to town for the older generation and walking. Any insight appreciated. country49

Have you looked at Sunbreeze? I bet that would be a good fit for you! Nice pool and good on-site rest. also, in town and close to everything! How long are you down? From what I've heard, they do have small refrig's if you need.

Yup, looked at lot of the places. Wanted just outside of town. Looking to maybe spend a week trip to check out the island. We have been to St. John 6 times and really like it there, but want to try something else. Ambergris Caye has always peaked our interest. Thanks for your reply. Take care. Country49

You might want to look at the Blue Tang, located on the N. edge of town Close enough to walk to any where in town, small dipping pool & good rates, we always stay in room *6 private balcony overlooking St. & beach. I really like Mayan Princess if you don't need a pool, located center of town. Lot's of good places really depends on how much you want to spend on lodging.
p.s. don't expect to see a beach anything close to St. John one of our fav. places also.

J DOG Didn't think the beaches would be anything like St. John. We just got back last week. Stayed in a villa on Great Cruz Bay. We still love it there, just ready for something new also. Have looked the last year or two at Ambergris Caye, The snorkeling, and fishing is what looks good to us. Also looks layed back (maybe more so than Cruz Bay) with some shopping and enough places to eat. Also looks like still a safe haven for Americans. Oh well, will still do some more looking and see what also shows up here. Thanks again

Hi, Don and Sharon. I fit into the somewhat "older generation and walking" category. We like staying close to town and only rent a golf cart for a "touring" day. The guys are always fishing, so the girls like being able to walk to town sometimes several times a day without it being a big deal.
I think it was Simon who posted a list of places and their distances from the center of town a good while back. I tried to do a search for it, but must not know the secret search words. If anyone out there knows how to get the list, it might be helpful for you to see how far you will have to walk to get to town. That long picture of the island with the businesses on the Caribbean gives a good perspective, too. Have a good day.

If you like the "villa" idea, you might enjoy the Palms. Halfway between Ramon's and Sunbreeze, nice pool, easy to walk to town. We enjoy the kitchen, especially for breakfast and snacks.

Look into the Banana Beach oceanfront units. Really nice.

If you like the rates @ Ramons, as someone suggested, look into The Palms. It's right next to Ramons and far, far superior condos...perfect location also. Banana Beach is much too far south for what you will want and if Banana Beach rooms are a 2*, The Palms is 3 1/2*...great for walking to everything.
