My husband and I are planning our 1st visit to Ambergris Caye. We are looking at Ambergris Condos at Paradise Villas. We like the idea of having a kitchen and being close to town, but I am wondering what their beach is like. Can someone provide some insight? We are going in Feb. 2008. Thanks.

Yes, familiar with Paradise Villas. Next door should look a lot different in 2008! The Phoenix, new development just next door, should be near (if not complete) by that time.

The beach at Paradise Villas is not one to layout near but the pool is nice and you can't beat the location.

thanks, travelqueen. i take it swimming off the beach at the villas is probably not an option either. i see a ladder off their pier, but it looks like a high boat traffic area. we would like to be in that same area and price range but with a nice beach and a kitchen. any suggestions?

I personally would wait it out, see what happens next door! Should really look beautiful and they might do something really nice with the beach that'll spill onto the Paradise Villas property! I'd check back later on in the year for updates. Otherwise, Banyon Bay has a nice beach and kitchens but may be a bit further out than you want and as far as cost, I have no clue.

The Palms, right next to Ramons, have a very nice kitchen and the beach is beautiful and you're close to everything....just a leisurely stroll to BC's!
I'm happier than a pig in s__t...a foot on the sand...and a Belikin in my hand!

We've stayed at both PV and the Palms. If you want a big spacious grounds and big pool, PV. If you like a little more comfort, a more open living space and nice beach and will settle for a smaller private pool area, the Palms.

I think the beaches on Ambergris Caye are just right for strolling. How much beach does one person need?
I donít understand what you mean when you ask for Ďa nice beach.Ē Are you talking about the quality of the sand or the square footage? The island is mostly sand Ė how much is manicured beach depends on how close the facility is built to the water line.
Any resort where you would stay cleans their beaches everyday.
I also donít understand why people donít want to swim over eel grass Ė it is full of interesting critters.
I think everything is relative Ė from the pictures Iíve seen of the beaches in Europe people are elbow to elbow on a big beach.
I grew up in Oregon Ė if you could see anyone else on the beach you were too close. Some of Oregonís beaches are more than a mile from road to water with sand dunes you canít see over. Northern California, on the other hand, you are lucky if there is any sand between the cliffs and the ocean. Of course both of them have bone chilling water that only kids and crazy adults get in more than knee deep.
The water here is always warm enough, sometimes warmer than the air.

ScubaLdy, hit the nail on the head. There are people who like to plant themselves on a scenic beach for their vacation. Most people don't do that. AC beaches perfect for strolling, sitting for a while, wandering into the water to cool off. Perfect for a lot of us. 25 days to go. smile

Hi Harriette: Hope your having a nice day smile. What I mean about a nice day is not to hope that the weather is nice...or a windfall profit...or a lucky day at the casino...or enjoying the effects of a wonderful lunch at Caliente's...what I really mean is I hope your having a reasonably enjoyable, healthy day. Thank you Bill and Bobber!
I am having a nice day but I had a GREAT day on Saturday. My friend Carlos and his lovely wife Chantal were here (again) for their wedding anniversary.
Saturday morning, just as we were ready to leave for the day it starting raining Ė HOW NICE! It let up by 9:00 and we headed up by Caye Caulker. Perfect overcast sky Ė and not the kind you get a sun burn through. We hauled in many snappers of many varieties and sized. I had packed a really good lunch and we munched. About 2:00 we headed home and found a nice section of water up by Nurse Natalieís place and snorkeled for a couple of hours. The sun had come out and I now have a hot back. We found a couple of good sized conch.
Sunday we feasted in the back yard of my place up north! B-B-Q fish less than 24 hours out of the water! You canít beat that with a stick.
