Although I'm sure these stats are supposed to 'shock' us for some reason. They seem quite a bit off to me (not that I'm an authority on this type of thing, but I had a minute to do some surfin'..).
For example, 81 people killed by handguns everyday in the US? According to census.gov, 14,249 people were murdered in 2004 in the US. That is about 39 people a day. Assuming everyone was murdered with gun that still leaves roughly 42 people who die everyday by handguns but were not murdered. Doesn't make much sense to me either..
