Can you tell me what kind of tips are expected in AC? We are headed there in a week and wanted to make sure that we are prepared. REstaurants, taxi's, scuba diving, snorkling trips, bartenders?

For diving I would say more like 10%-15%, though as a Brit I don't regard any particular level of tipping as "normal" - if the service is good I tip, if it isn't I don't, and if it's really bad I complain. Otherwise a "tip" is just an increase in price, which should be promulgated as such.

It is nice to place a smile on someone who has helped you on your way. Employee's in most service facilities do not make much...and, they do apprechiate your kind consideration.

I know a place that adds your 20% for tip... THEN it's split like 5% to the members of the employees. Any guess the other 15% goes to? shakes his heads....

10% unless the waiter or waitress really knows their job-we need to promote the idea that the service industry is a good industry for Belizeans to enter and therefore they should take pride in their appearance and take a pride and learn what the food they are serving actually is i.e. how it is cooked, what special seasonong is used etc. etc.- I am sick to death of people saying Oh well they do not know any better therefore we will tip 20%-that is nuts -we need to pay thye most to the most knowledgeable and best and much less to the ones who just do not get it

I see your point P1 but wonder if that logic is really that effective in AC.

Pedros, view is how I tip where ever I am. Give me good service and I'll give a good tip, 20% fo otstanding service. If service is not good the tip starts going down and I do not feel bad leaving no tip if that is what the service warrants
