I am going to A.C. in July and have not been able to find anything "cheap". Looks like $550+ from the west coast. My friend is going to Argentina and my ticket will cost as much as hers!! lol (albeit it is winter in Argentina :-)

Coming to AC in mid-June! Can't wait! :-)
Button Pusher: I looked at just about all of the airlines, but we were leaning towards Continental. We are about 2 hours from Houston, an hour from Austin.
Texasqueen, we also are an hour from Austin...south (Bell Co). Are you south? north? east or west? We have booked through Dallas on AA nonstop to Belize City simply for the convenience - time and no plane changes. When I was searching I found that Continental to Houston was a good connection, and then TACA flies out of IAH. I think I saw that it was associated with Delta Airlines....? Mari in TX
Just FYI: I just found tickets through Priceline for TACA at $301 per person and that is with all taxes! We will be saving about $400 if we do this, thanks for the help!
Make sure you save extra cash. You may get hit with departure taxes you didn't expect when leaving (could be up to $35USD per person). Still sounds like a good deal regardless.
I flew Taca once and was impressed. Very clean, non smelly plane, on time, and served a decent sandwich. $300 is an Awesome price! I would jump on it. It cost me over $500 to fly to Dallas from Belize a couple months ago, and would have been close to $800 to fly to Austin. Total Rip off.
We flew on TACA last month to Belize. Planes are nice and new and have more seat room than the American air carriers. We got two RT tix for a little over $600 USD on an auction site. Flight attendants announce in English and Spanish because the majority of pax are Spanish-speakers.
TexasQueen, Belton, on Lake Belton to be exact. The agency I work for covers Rockdale, so I'm familiar with it. You probably have a shorter drive to the AUS airport than we do. You got a great deal on TACA! Enjoy your trip.
