Crap. I was almost talked into doing Boogie IV in February and then a "friend" showed me this.
From source: " In this video I am the instructor. The camera is on the left side of my head. The points of contact were the top of my head and his ribs. I heard my neck break and, I was paralyzed instantly. The legs you see flopping around are mine. My emergency parachute opened around 700'. I was fully conscious until hitting the ground."
I was trying to work out what happened. Assuming no part of the video has been edited out the two jumpers seem well apart when "impact" occurs. I wonder what happened to the guy afterwards - I've known people make full recoveries from a broken neck. Mind you, Murphy was in good form that day in arranging for the out of control full-drive landing to be on the hard runway. Horrific.
I agree with TQ, Otter! I thought someone cancelled next year's Boogie! It reminded me of the video we saw of Walter skydiving at the last Boogie. Will someone put it up on YouTube? Please? I did a search and managed to find someone's video of their dive at 2007's boogie. It looks awesome. Someone might be able to talk me into jumping next year.
I agree with you Otter, I was pretty much talked into doing a tandem for a milestone birthday celebration, but after seeing this, I am having 2nd thoughts!
Extreme sports can and do have their consequences. And, in case nobody told you, jumping (not pushed) out of an airplane that's not on fire from 12,000' qualifies as an extreme sport.
