I've found the easiest thing from Miami is American Airlines. www.aa.com

thanks for the a.a. tip however, they're quoting me $650 USD from miami - out of my league...are there any smaller airlines that offer commuter service?

I think TACA is the mexican airline, but the last time I was in San Pedro, the travel agent told me they cut out their Miami-Belize route. Too bad, I enjoyed my flight with them! Unless your trip is rigid, try www.priceline.com and bid for tickets.

Taca airline still flies out of Miami to Belize City but you must go via San Pedro Sula where you board a second plane a thirty seater and continue on to Belize City. Plane leaves Miami at 3:20 and arrives Belize City at 5:00 pm. There are plenty of consolidators in the Miam area and the last time we went the ticket costs were around $350.00US. I feel that American Airlines is really to be held responsible for the demise of this route for Taca. Of course everyone that opts to fly American only compounds the problem by the loss of competion to keep prices low. If you pay more than $375.00 you are getting taken. Try the phone numbers of 1-877-913-4024 and 1-800-445-7820 and 1-800-458-8281. Between these three you should get a reasonable rate.

thanks for all your input folks - got through on the last post to one of the 800 numbers and was quoted $381 miami/bc on taca.

one other option i would like to investigate is the possibility of travel to b.c. from cancun (or somewhere else in mexico). toronto does tons of charters to there and this might be more reasonable as toronto/miami/b.c. is costing me around $1150 per ticket *ouch*...any thoughts?

We've flown into Cancun MANY times. Like you, there are lots of charters going from Detroit to Cancun. We've even gotten $99 airfare into Cancun. If you have time you can take the bus from Cancun to Belize. If you're in a hurry to get there, Aerocaribe (I think) has a flight at 3:30 from Cancun to Belize City. I'll look around for more information and send it later.
