PLANNING A FIRST TRIP TO SAN PEDRO IN JAN/FEB 2008. I am looking for budget to moderate priced lodging (I know this is considered high season). Is A/C really needed in Jan/Feb?

I think you'll want A/C. I love the hot weather but there are days, for me at least, when it's just too much and A/C hits the spot. Of course you could jump in a pool or find a bar or restaraunt with A/C. My opinion is get a room with A/C, for comfortable sleeping at night if nothing else.

Not exactly budget but some real nice condos for rent:

Thanks, we are going to have about 8-10 people going on this trip and we are interested in maybe a condo rental also, we were not sure if it would be better staying in a resort vs a rental.

I guess it depends on your heat tolerance. I didn't use the a/c at all during trips in February and March. When we go in September I'm guessing it will be a different story....

Those of us who live here usually are freezing in January. It gets down to 70 some nights.
However, the ocean stays warm, seldom gets below 78.
