Where can sim cards be purchased for a cell phone? Belize Intl? Someplace in San Pedro?

Or is there a more convenient and cost effective way to call the US from AC?

SIM cards can be purchased at the Bel Tel office near the Fire Station. Minimum amount is probably US$5. Don't forget to get your phone unblocked from your provider.

Don't know cheapest way to call US but probably is at Steve's place...CocoNet...using VOIP.

Sim cards are $US25. This gives you local service throughout Belize and the border towns. Credit (minutes) can be purchased almost anywhere. All incoming calls are free. Charges to the US and local numbers vary. The cheapest way to call the US is with USA Direct calling cards sold almost everywhere. You can use these cards with a payphone or a local cell phone.

there is a BTL shop across the parking lot at Goldson airport, SIMs are $25 with a little airtime. The last time I asked at the Sea Turtle, they didn't have SIMs, neither did the BTL location in San Pedro town.

Anyone know why the minutes expire after 1 month? It used to be 3 months! Also, used to be $10 for $12 card now $10 for $10...

Cards expire based on the dollar value, 5 and 10 in 30 days, 20 in 60 and 50 in 90 days approximate.

dabunk, the $10 cards used to have a longer life to them until recent. I'll start buying the $20 cards. Thanks for the 411!

my minutes never expire. i fill up the card when i leave belize, when i return in two - three months i have the same amount. i just buy the $50 ones

my dad left his sim card with BTL and they said they would keep it active for free.

Time will tell whether it will still be there when he gets back, or if there is any time left on it!
