BuyBelize.com (owned by Steve Perera) 2 1/2 Mi Western Hwy, has some of the lowest rates in Belize. The cars are pretty old -- like 10 years + -- but seem to be in good condition and are priced right, at least for Belize. Believe their lowest rates would be about US$200 a week or $35 to $40 a day for a Geo Metro or similar 2WD. Might negotiate a discount from that.

Crystal has a US49 a day/ US$294 a week off-season rate for a small Saturn-size vehicle, paved roads only.

Rates are plus CDW if your credit card doesn't cover it, and plus 10% GST.

What are the extra rates on insurance, as I have found it can add $10 to $30 a day to the car rate? We always rent our car from The Embassy Hotel at International Airport, He has a fleet of newer 4 wheel drives, $55 to $65 a day, with a million dollar insurance coverage,and taxes included.

CDW usually runs $14-18 US/day depending on the rental place and the type vehicle. Manditory at most places but optional at some rental places for some vehicles (older).
