Jane was Susan a waitress still at Journey's End? Does Journey's End still have a room with slot machines for the guests?
Did you snorkel at other sites than out front of JE?

Jane: I have tons of questions, but I will keep it short:

1. How was the weather?
2. Is the traffic bad in town like they have talked about on this forum?
3. Did you kayak and where?
4. Where were your favorite places to eat and why?
5. How was the beach barbeque?

I guess that is it for now!

chloe, my friend! slot machine, no, but i didnt come for that, never any interest in casino at all. dont even go to atlantic city >2 hrs away. not my gig. there was a jacuzzi room there. it was too hot for me but it made the pool feel quite cool after!

snorkel - yes but not much, did it using JE dive shop taging along on to scuba trips. usually no more than 10 min. boat ride from JE, i.e. mexico rocks. lotsa fish, lotsa coral formations and one anemone. at kayak bouy site day after us, another couple saw a lg grouper and a baracuda. luck of the draw, i guess!

susan - YES and in a big way! said hi for you and another guy called pab, made her smile (but what doesnt). she now has a 5 year old boy named Randy who was very sweet and well behaved.

loved JE. only gripes: mosquitos north of cut were voracious, as i stated 100 times, but never saw anything like it, and the rooms were clean but could have been cleaner. wish the restaurant or bar was screened to keep 'squitos out.

as you know, i went to chill and for peace and quite. it was PERFECT for that. nice pool, super staff, good food (but pricy), best beach i saw there, loved all the plants and palms. cabana 10 (nearest to beach)washed away with hurricane mitch. i was cabana 8. 10 steps to my favorite lounge on the beach, 20 steps to restaurant, 30 steps to bar!

positive points of JE in off season [Linked Image]bartender's joke: "OFF" (bug spray)season. (boo, hiss!)) most # of guests there my week: 17, average, 10. one day all went scuba or tikal but me and i was ONLY ONE THERE NO KIDDING! talk about staff service that day!! staff was super, lots of handshakes, hugs, and smiles when we left. f's dives had no more thn 6 divers, even to turneffe (he swam with dolphins there and was very happy except for 1.5 hr boat ride, seasick!)

guests were friendly and from all over, like long time friends we often pushed together tables to eat together.

f was very pleased with steve's dive shop there and he never used another, carlos even held my hand on my first snorkel 'til i was comfortable (told you i was a ninny!).

next door was built a one room resort that has a french-thai reataurant that was classy and yummy (and spicy!), yet barefoot was the norm.

gotta run now, but catch you with more later. all in all great time but i'm very glad to be home.

Hi Jane!
Still scratching???? sorry to hear of the mosquitos. I had been reading all your posts back and forth before you left. I felt like I knew you. Ha! Anyway, after you left I kept saying to myself...... Jane doesn't have to put up with this stress at work.... She's in San Pedro....Jane doesn't have to deal with her kids......She's in San Pedro......Jane doesn't have to cook dinner......She's in San Pedro stuffing herself on lobster......I knew you were were attending the BBQ on Sunday. Thought of you again while washing clothes. I went and got my pitiful Texas beer, poured it into my Belikin glass, raised it high and toasted all of you at the BBQ. Glad you had such a nice time!!!!!! Wish I could have been there.

I am glad to hear you had a good time and that staying up nort wasn't so bad. What time was the last water taxi back to the north end? Is JE next to captain morgans and if so did it look nice. Was there anywhere to hang out at night in the north end?

chloe, you spend too much time scrutinizing the posts, who havent you caught yet!! LOL!! debbie, sorry didnt say hi directly before, just didnt fit it in. so, hi.
guys, no s**t, the mosquitos were fearce, can of off a day at 7.50 - 10.00 US a can,(get it, the "off" season, bug spray, get it? bartenders joke). 20 on your door waiting to get in.

BOOBLERS: trip great otherwise. water taxis run every alternate hour in and out (9 in, 10,out, etc) its posted in a few places. JE runs two compimentary ones (2 in 2 out) for guests only. i think the last one in is 10pm except for wed and sat when i think they are 12AM and 2am or something.i just inadvertantly wrote a brief (not) travologue on the CABANAS post below this one. will answer a lot of those questionsjust got rambling....

Jane, reading your report takes me back to a wonderful time last year when I was down there. I am going to Cozumel next week, but it lacks the tranquility and laid-back atmosphere of San Pedro. Cozumel has awesome diving, but it's becoming too developed.

Thanks for the update on Susan and asking her if she remembered me. She pretty much defines the hospitality you receive at JE. Can't wait to get back down there myself.

Glad you had a good time. Thanks for sharing your stories,

Paul
