What are they likely to be like in Late October?

Depends on rainfall and lack of wind.
Be prepared, take repellent, high % of deet.

again, chloe is right on. just got back and they were really bad, it had rained the day before we got there as well as at the end of our stay. the wind completely died two days before departure and they were by far the worst days.if the breeze keeps they arent a big deal. A guy who got back a few days before i left (reefergeefer) said they were not bad for him. the rain and wind are the true deciding factors, cant second guess mother nature. most folks from down there said they are not a problem (not their season) from late oct to may. does this sound right everyone? hope you fare better than we did. you will have fun anyway!

Part 1
Skimming across the crystal blue pristine waters last week was such a relief from my business, and quite a change from the hills of Cayo. The landlubbers were out of Central Farm at last!!! The drone of the outboards and the smell of the salt water put me into a hypnotic dream where I lived on this beautiful island. On this dream island was me and my carmel skinned lover cooking fresh fish everyday. All we did was sun ourselves and drift in the exotic sands of our paradise.

Part 2
OHHH...MY GOD!!!...All I heard was 7 kids screamming , jumping and running from the backside of Caye Caulker toward the swimming hole by the cut. I was still moving fishing gear and bags toward the hotel when I was attacked. I pounded and pounded on the door to the room to no avail. FOR GOD SAKE LET ME IN!!!
I was left, my children and wife had abandoned me!!!.... locked out of my room ....I was "skeeter chumm". I was told it was the worst it has been in ten years. I had so many on me that I looked like the late Bob Marley less the dreds...

Deet is the answer! I bought four bottles of it at Walmart before leaving. It is 100% and it is about to be banned so load up now. I stayed at Ramon's and it was fantastic. Ate at all the top recommended restaurants and theirs was the best. Took a drive on my golf cart to Land's End and picked up a local walking and gave him a few squirts of deet and he said it was the best stuff he had ever used. They were brutal but very samll unlike the monsters I am accustomed to.

We here in South Texas prayed for rain and prayed for rain, then we got it,and now are complaining about the huge mosquitos here.
I saw a TV ad for a battery operated gadet that will keep mosquitos away up to 15 feet.
I will check it out at Big Kmart here.
