Taca just announced a new route from Oakland, CA. to San Salvador starting November 18th. Flights for December dates (Oakland - San Salvador - Belize) are $516. Great news for us in No. CA.

Does TACA always change in San Salvador? I know it is their hub, but I was looking at a flight from Cancun to BZE and couldn't find that route on their website.

there is no Cancun-BZE unless you want to bus or connect -- boo! Columbus based Skybus Airlines launches Columbus-Cancun next year for peanuts. An easy connection would be very welcome.

As it was explained to me the local airlines wanted to do Chetumal and Cancun flights but in order for that to happen Belize would've had to allow Mexican airlines full access to Belizean airspace. That would have effectively killed the local airlines and put hundreds of people out of work.

I am a big fan of TACA and have learned that watching their prices pays off. Depending on where you are in NorCal, SFO is about the same distance as Oakland. I've paid as little as $420 roundtrip; currently it's $487.
