Hearing rumors that October 15th a new airline called ALMA ( www.alma.com.mx ) is going to start a new flight from Chetumal to Cancun operated daily.

I hope they are reliable Marty !!!!

This brings to my memory one of the scariest airline
flights I have ever been on. In about the year 1988 or so,
I was on a small airplane going from Cancun to Cozumel
Island. Boy did that airplane vibrate. I wondered if at
any minute something would malfunction and I would meet
my fate at the bottom of the ocean.

Can you imagine the compounded concern I had when I looked
out the window of the small airplane I was in and saw an
identical airplane that had crashed nose down in the shallow ocean water that we were presently flying over !!!

Needless to say, I was glad when we finally landed on Cozumel.

Perhaps they have improved since the 1980s but be careful,

.....or flying to Cuba from Cancun on Air Cubana in a 50's Russian Plane that fills with a dry ice like smoke on take off - and I do mean fills, you couldn't see further than three seats ahead of you.

Didn't dare take my head from between my knees to look out the window and see how many predecessors were in the water!!!

Us Canucks can fly real cheap on charters to Cancun or real expensive to BZE! As an example ... for me to get to Phillip Gordson return from here right now it is $1495 plus 2 overnight stays.
I just went to http://www.alma.com.mx site and it does show a Cancun to Chetumal flight but it is all in espanol so I am not sure but I think a flight is about $195 US, $190.00 Canadian one way and it is 50 minutes. This could be a considerable savings for us. The flight is about the same as the 2 overnights! For me to get to Cancun right now without the charter flights is about $790 CDN so the total would be $980 Canadian, $515 savings per person is a lotta bucks to me.
