Marty Online happy
Tropic Air today announced that it has added a factory new 7 passenger aircraft to its fleet. Earlier this year Tropic added a new 3 seater. Both are equipped with state of the art engine, propeller and navigation systems. Tropic will be taking delivery of the first "glass cockpit" Cessna Caravan to be exported in April of 2008. Tropic also retired its oldest aircraft which has served the company since new in 1983. Tropic Air’s aircraft are
piloted by 15 pilots who are all Belizean

Yeah pedro2 -- I was thinking that with equipment like that, you could remotely fly the new aircraft.

A new video game? Impressive.

A few years ago we flew into Culebra on a Caravan. On the flight from San Juan, we hit some rain squalls that the pilot avoided. I was interested in his comment "wow, I got to fly this thing for a few minutes.:) Is everything so automated now, even on the little planes?

Yeah, my hubby teases his pilot friends that fly for the airlines that they are just "pushing buttons"!!
Seriously, even in our small plane we have a "glass cockpit" with weather, auto-pilot that has altitude and heading hold, etc. Gone are the days of compass-style navigation...even though you still have to learn it in school!

Still interesting tho. On that flight out of San Juan, we watched a DC-3 take off ahead of us. 15 minutes later, we passed him. So much for old technology.

The aircraft I learned to fly in had two instruments, a compass and a fuel gage.

I never had the chance to even learn. On the other hand, I do have a good record as a passenger. smile

The 3 most useless things to a pilot are;

The runway Behind him

The altitude above him

The amount of air in his fuel tanks

While we're on sayings about pilots .... a good pilot can always get out of trouble, a REALLY good pilot never gets into trouble in the first place.

The three worst things to hear in the cockpit:
The second officer says, "Oh s*#t!"
The first officer says, "I have an idea!"
The captain say, "Hey, watch this!"

There is an art to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
