I am getting really concerned about upcoming trip. We were on Ambergris last year in March and never saw a biting anything! Walked around town, on the beach, etc., at 1:00am. We also chartered a boat and moored around mangrove islands with no critters invading. So, with that good experience we have decided to rent a house for two weeks the end of April and really get to know the island itself instead of sailing around. HOWEVER, I am really, really allergic to biting insects! Please, tell me I am being a nervous nelly and will not have pieces of my hide removed or end up in the hospital with an extreme reaction. Please!

If you were OK here last March, why be worried about coming back in April? If anything, it should be even nicer. Relax, you're going to have a great vacation.

April is a wonderful time. The biting little critters are pretty well gone during January.
