My husband and I are planning a New Year's trip to Belize, and are wondering where best to celebrate...we're pretty flexible and could be inland or out on the islands that night. Any suggestions?

Celebration? San Pedro will be rocking all night long. Not elegant - more margaritavilla booze-music blast stuff.
The fine dining restaurants generally have a special dinner with chanpagne, after which you can go to town for the crazy part --- OR ----- in years past Mata Chica has staged wonderful black-and white balls with amazing food, live music and dancing - truly first rate and in a beautiful setting. Hopefully they will continue the tradition this year. By the way the new chef at Mata Chica is FANTASTIC.
Another year we went to Renzezvous for a 5 or 7 course chef's table with special wines and champagne - followed by an all-night jazz fest at Journey's End --- we staggered home at 3 am and were very happy campers.
You will not want for places to go --- !
