How much alcohol can someone bring into Belize? (Travelling from Canada and we have our preferences for brands, so want to be sure we have sufficient for our stay.) I looked for the answer to this question, but couldn't find it.

We brought in two large bottles of our favorites and no one said a word. We brought the kids' favorite foods as well, and didn't have a problem with that either. Customs was easy and didn't take hardly any time at all. NOT like Cancun. Oh horror and nightmares!!!! You can buy liqour in San Pedro, but if you're used to Canadian brands, I don't know what kind of selection they have.

I Belize the legal limit is one fifth per person duty free (2 people 2 fifths). You can bring in more but they can charge duty.
Why don't you let us know what you were thinking of bringing and then you might find out is is available in SP anyhow!
For example Absolut vodka is served like regular vodka in some places!
Belize it!

You are legally allowed to bring 1 liter per person, but as a practical matter if you have an extra bottle or two usually the customs official doesn't say anything.

The groceries in San Pedro have fair selections, and the prices though high for imported brands are probably not much higher than you'd pay in Canada. Save U and Brodies in Belize City have bigger selections, and there are a couple of stores in Belize City with wine along with liquor.

Local rums are excellent and cheap (One Barrel and Duurley's gold are great, I think) and the Belizean-made vodka and a few other spirits are inexpensive and okay.

Checkout Island Supermarket, located just south of the village, for a better selection than Belize City.

Yippee Skippe? Good grief you DON"T sound like you need any chocolate whatever.

The Island Supermarket will serve you fine when you run out, and you probably will run out. The BZ rum is pretty darn good, the BZ vodka is passable (especially if you run it through a coffee filter), but once again DO NOT DRINK BELIZIAN GIN!. It is the Lords way of having you atone for a lifetime of sins if you do.

CHOOCHOO - thanks for your comments - which is exactly what I was looking for, because:

1. We don't drink rum
2. We don't want to drink vodka that is "passable after running it through a coffee filter", and
3. One of us is definitely a Gin man!

We'll just bring as much as we can - thanks to all for understanding, as we plan on spending two weeks, not just one, and we just want to enjoy ourselves with our favourites!
