hey, I'm just wondering if anyone is pretty familiar with the El Gato boat / the people who run it?

I've emailed them about reserving it and haven't heard back yet, and I'm going to be there on January 12th.

Ive got a group of people together that want to do a snorkeling trip on one of the boats, but I haven't had any luck so far for a decent price. The winnie dixie's captian is out of the country and i found these people grumpy and smiley, but their trip is $160 per person!

If anyone has any tips or suggestions on perhaps another charter we could get, i'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks!

We've done a trip with Geraldo and the El Gato six times, always taking it for ourselves only. Last time was April '07 with three couples. Around $450 a day, includes fresh caught lunch and some adult beverages if one is so inclined. Best to make the arrangements once you are on island. Your host lodgings can help doing that. Fishing can be pretty damn good off the "Cat" also. Last time we went outside the reef on the way back in perfectly smooth waters. Chunky and Ruth, if you're lurking (I know you are), testify to Chunky's catch that day.

We've been out with Geraldo twice and had a great time both times!! it would probably be easier just to have your hotel make the contacts . . don't think he checks his e-mail much!!

Geraldo's son works with us and they live opposite us, so email or pm me the details and I'll pass them on. Geraldo - as with many old school San Pedranos is not at all up with email.

You can also rent a small boat with guide at Cholo's pier.
