You birders have piqued my interest. I noticed they say 'No Air Conditioning' which is usually fine by me - but - is it too hot to be comfortable at the end of May? My friend who came here on his honeymoon three years ago and has brought his bride back each year for their anniversary are coming again this May. They have yet to go inland - too much to do here! However, I am wondering about the three of us making a trip up for their last few days. What accommodations would you recommend for three of us? Maybe I can have a new lens by then to capture some bird shots.

Its in the hills, in a valley by a cool mt. stream I would bring a light jacket for the evenings.Air cond. isn't necessary.
They have great birding guides that do morning walks along the river I highly suggest.

they have very nice jungle lodge connecting rooms - 2 rooms sharing a bathroom. Or the 2 story, 2 bedroom, 2 bath "La Casita" is nice for 3 people. I am sure SJ would have some pics of it to post. My pics are all in limbo somewhere with the Yahoo photo/Flikr switch over. Great place for birders. Or Crystal Paradise is great for birders as well.

harriette -

ha ha barb knows me too well! i recommend la casita as well - stayed there twice. yeah, it gets hot during the day, but we were only super hot while at the ruins. if you all dont mind steps, the river is a wonderful cool off during the day. nights were fine. we didn't need jackets.

we kept the doors open a lot, and lil flying critters do get in. hope your friends are ok with that.

It was wonderful when all of the Duplooy girls still lived and worked there. Anyone know where they all went?
