Hope all you regulars can help out. Are there sections of the larger grocery stores (San Pedro Supermarket in particular) that sell deli meats & cheeses to make sandwiches?

Yes, but your best bet is to get your sandwich meat from The Sausage Factory. They smoke their own and it will cost you at least half the price and it won't be expired! They also sell some cheese.

To clarify: When I say Yes, I mean they sell packaged deli meats from the US. There are no 'deli counters' in the supermarkets.

or for almost the same price, you could get your sandwiches already freshly made at Hungry Monkey sub shop. Good subs!

I second the sausage factory. Great meats!

If you buy deli meats and cheeses at the grocery stores you must check the expiration dates. Although expiration dates are often "best eaten by" recommendations, who wants to risk getting sick.

CC's suggestion of buying freshly made sandwiches is quite valid because even when you have the meats, bread and cheese, there is still the condiments and salad items to consider - it all adds up quickly.
