fishing from shore can be fun ,but not as good as going out with a boat as the action is better away from shore .But you can catch snapper ,from the end of some docks at high tide,or by the side of bridge by the cut.. Or throw a lure out and catch cuda ,or catch bone fish in the flats lots of places south and north for that . lots of people and resorts do not like people fishing off there dock so ask if it ok???? Go to town and you will find capt sharks he has bait and tackel there are town stores on sanpedro !!the one I am talking about is on the beach right near wet willys bar he is a nice guy and will tell you where to go to have fun !!!! Just clean up after fishing and do not leave anything like bait and stuff that could hurt some one like hooks .tight lines to you and good fishing .for more info pm.me....

Thanks for the info Capt...I am looking for snapper if possible. Any suggestions of a great little hole for snapper and what bait they take? I went down to Marinas and bought line, hooks and weights. Thinking of just hand fishing.

Thanks again...

Does anyone do catch and release. My kids like to go fishing but we are not big seafood eaters (if it swims I dont eat it).

You don't have to take the fish you catch, what I usually do is offer it to the mate and capt. of the boat. When you go fishing off AC I found that the mate will fillet the fish and cook them up for you on the beach, it is really a fun thing to do but it isn't mandatory that you do so. If you really don't want to kill the fish, I am sure you can ask around and someone can accommodate you. Also if you want to snorkel and fish most charters will do that for you too, this way if the are no fish biting you can at least go in the water and look at them. I used Cholo's last time I was there and did exactly that snorkeled and fished,it's a great time and you kill two birds with one stone. Have fun fishing I know you will love it.

Hi all - there's a great article in this past Sunday's Washington Post about fishing in AC. The article was on the front page of the Travel section. Very timely as we're going back this weekend and bringing my in-laws for the first time. My father-in-law wants to go fishing and this article should definitely whet his appetite.

A variety of snapper is around AC. We used net caught sardines for bait and a #1 hook on the line. Near shore you might find mangrove snapper in the mangroves!
snorkel off the dock to view any underwater wildlife.

IMO shallow water near the shore of AC not the best for snapper fishing.
Belize it!
