I had no service at all on Sunday after 7am, for over 24 hours. Today I have email fairly reliably but web browsing is very poor. Many pages won't load at all, others load after several attempts and very slowly.

If it weren't for what I heard a few days ago I'd just criticise Coral Cable. But I have been told separately that BTL are deliberately downgrading the service they give corporate customers/competitors, affecting both Smart internet (used on the mainland) and Coral Cable. I understand it's not that they're diverting resources to their own use, which would at least make some sense, but that it is a purely destructive exercise to prevent the competition being able to provide a decent service. What we expect of BTL, in fact.

Anyone else using Coral Cable experiencing poor browsing even though email works?

It took me seven attempts to make this post.

The Coral Cable service has been much worse than normal. Takes forever to load a page or website. Not sure what the problem is, thought it was just the rain and wet, exposed connections. Who knows.

I see my friends logging in and out of MSN messenger throughout the day, they have Coral Cable and the connection keeps dropping constantly. Was over at one friend's place tonight to do some work on the computer and the service was god awful.

For once Coral Cable has been working up north fairly well(we are their most Northern customer). We have the problems you mention a lot. It seems like Friday mornings the speed really goes down. Brian is here at least twice a month to fix a problem. However, I am proud of them. When the electrical pole burned on Saturday and we were without power for 23 hours I figured we would not get cable/internet until Tuesday with Monday being a holiday. We had cable soon after power and then internet Monday morning.

I'm on the very south end of their line and my internet was out for most of the weekend just like Pedro2. For days before that it was coming on and off every few minutes. Very Frustrating! Seems to be ok now though.

Doesn't matter, they still route through their own equipment to BTL and if their equipment isn't functioning then service is interupted. Just like all of the secondary providers around the world.

It's my understanding that MirrorNet will soon be bringing internet to Ambergris Caye which does not receive their signal via BTL. Just waiting on completion of a tower that some service provider on the island is supposedly building.

Thursday was the worst day I can remember. Trying to finish some business online and connection dropped 3 or 4 times an hour, pretty much all day. Very frustrating, as such I am crying Uncle and will be signing up with the enemy, BTL today. Part of the plan I suppose.

I called Coral Cable yesterday and they said they were working on the lines which is why internet service was going off and on. We'll see if its better today. Won't be holding my breath though!

I went into Coral Cables office yesterday mid morning to report a problem with my TV picture. I told them it was probably the wiring / connections in my house but could they possibly come and check the incoming signal for me as a starting point. The problem was with their cable and by mid afternoon on the same day, they had run a new cable from the telegraph pole on the street behind and I now have a perfect picture again with probably sixty channels of premium cable TV for US$20 a month. They put on free PPV Movies and Sporting events every weekend and regularly they put on PPV football games when I have asked them too.

Try getting service like that in the Western World.

Coral Cable continued to be a disaster all day. Dropped at least a dozen times over an hour or so until I finally gave up. Another interesting bit is that I can not access certain google groups or the tacogirl blogspot. It just hangs up and says no connection. If I load up my hotspot vpn then I can access both. It there yet a new level of blocking/censorship going on? and if so from where? Seems like BTL is doing all they can to completley control the www. Any ideas? Did actually bite the bullet and have set up BTL DSL connection on Monday. We will see.

No problems at all on the TV side Phil and you're right, on that end we get a lot of value. Tonight we get Marquez vs. Pacquiao on free PPV!
